About Me

I am a child of God, missionary, life-long learner and problem-solver. That said I have been working with technology since 1988 in some form to accomplish those things.

My evolution:

  • Fledgling programmer - late '80s and early '90s
  • UNIX administrator at Texas A&M - '90s
  • Firewall / routing administrator - late '90s
  • Security consultant - 2000 to 2017
  • SaaS entrepreneur - 2000 - present
  • Teacher/Professor - 2017 - present
  • Jack of all trades, master of none.

I've found a niche in network security, teaching, and problem solving with technology. In owning multiple businesses, I have architected, evaluated, deployed, managed, secured, and maintained numerous technologies and performed all requisite sanitation duties.

It's my desire to serve others and that has looked different over the years. I've served using my cybersecurity skills to protect organizations, and most recently through teaching others to do the same. I choose to see the positive aspects of technology and spend much of my time strong-arming it to help others in some way.

I tend to enjoy old-fashioned paper notes, dreaming of a simple time with a garden and no smartphone, and can often be found at a baseball game, learning something new, or cooking. It's highly satisfying to prepare a good meal and share it with friends and family.

I'm attempting to live a life that demands a gospel explanation. (1 Peter 3:15, The Bible)
